Aranley (Ostrobian: Ayrnley, Stratoherran: Yaranly, Hyenian:Yranly) is the capital and the largest city of the Heblo state. It is a major Ostrobian port and it has a population of 3,281,290 as of 2011. The city is named after Duke O'Yranly who governed the Duchy of Heblo - Stratoherran Commonwealth from 1432 to 1451. It was burnt by British invaders in 1681 and was under breif French control until the British and the Netherlands pushed the French out of the area in 1815. Historically the city was divided by Heblo in the north of the Stratoherran River and Haliheim to the south until 1975.

Aranley is located in south western Heblo. At the south is the fishing town of Cyutalban and at the south east lies Stratoherra City, at the north lies Tujankto and at the north east lies Urners. The River Stratoherra starts from Aranley and ends at the town of .

Geography[]

Aranley is located at the Ostoj Bay and is surrounded by the Heblo Hills. Most of the land is fertile and agriculture is predominant on the rural areas. Most of the produce at Aranley is mostly apples and apricots. Christchurch Bay is a famous beach spot for Western Europe and Aranley enjoys an oceanic climate as with rest of Ostrobia. Aranley is not a devolved city state such as Treien or Seblo, so the state government exercises control over the city as well as the rest of Heblo, however Aranley is not a county area, it is a combined authority comprised of the different suburbs and the towns of Surrey, Newcastle, Christchurch, Nuel-Hal-Dubal and Carington.

The Central Belt is an Open Access Area so both cities use the same airport, seaport, bus services.

Aranley is culturally linked to Southern Ostrobia unlike the rest of Heblo which falls under the Midland Ostrobia.

Administrative Areas[]

The Aranley Combined Authority borders the Heblo Frontier in the north east and the south and the county of Freston in the north. There is also a small border with Stratoherra on the Aranley-Stratoherra Mainline on the locality of Narwal which borders Bergen in Stratoherra.

The city is comprised of different suburbs and seven independent towns:

  • Longton
  • Haugen
  • Alsager
  • Anderlecht
  • Narwal
  • Frestoj
  • Opeler
  • Castle Cray
  • Swindon
  • Rosendal (town)
  • Zeist (town, technically in the administrative division of Heblo Frontier, but included due to the location of Aranley-Stratoherra Airport)
  • Christchurch (town)
  • Surrey (town)
  • Newcastle (town)
  • Nuel-Hal-Dubal (town)
  • Carington (town)

Language divide[]

Aranley is the largest settlement in Ostrobia that has a stark language divide between neighbourhoods and constitent towns. This makes it hard for local government buisness to be conducted in a smooth and effective matter which hampers the city economic growth especially in Ostrobian speaking neighbourhoods.

There are five Ostrobian speaking localities, these are: Haugen, Anderlecht, Frestoj, Rosendal and Zeist. The remaining suburbs are English speaking only. The CBD is completely bilingual.

Southern Heblo Northern Haliheim (SHENHA)[]

Before 1975, the city was divided between Heblo and Haliheim. After 1975, the rest of the city and also Cyutalban was given to Heblo as the Castle Cray side (Southern Aranley) recieved more of its funding from the north of the river and Seblo in the south has displaced Aranley as the major southern port city of Ostrobia at that time. The Federal Government has advised that the city would be unified under Heblo in April 1974, with the handover commencing on 1 January 1975.

Before the Aranley Combined Authority, SHENHA was used to describe the whole courbanation at that time. SHENHA is still used such as the Shenah Convention Centre in Carington and also the reference to Haliheim is used, such as the North Haliheim Expressway that runs from Carington to Surrey.

Politics[]

Aranley is governed by the Aranley Combined Authority. Similar to the Dardly Combined Authority, the ACA acts as a regular LGA in Heblo but has special status in the state. Unlike Dardly however, the capital is located in Telfontein which is a suburb of Olastoj, near the geographical centre of Heblo.
